Unlike many kids I started shooting guns when I was about eight years old. I never shot a slingshot or bow.

Now in my retirement years I like the challenge of using a slingshot for small game and the bow for deer.

From my experience the Trumark bands (tubes) for slingshots are hard to beat. They make three different types. The standard yellow, the red tapered, and the black heavy pull bands.

Trumark's pouches are great! This is important because, it's difficult to grip/hold ammo with a stiff slick pouch. I read about many who like to shoot marbles and I suspect stiff slick pouches may be the reason. The large marbles may be easier to hold in such a pouch.

With Trumark's soft pouch I can hold/shoot almost anything. I can even shoot tiny BB's and 1/4 inch steel ammo. Such light ammo is not recommended by Trumark, but I've shot way more than 1000 practice rounds with the same red bands on a Chief AJ.

I think the red tubes are my favorites. I've read that several experienced shooters like them best, but some other shooters have complained of them having a short life.

All my Trumark bands have lasted very well. Maybe they got some that had been on the shelf for years, or they had been exposed to sunlight for a while; both of which can cause problems. Store all bands out of the sunlight!

I haven't done any real test, but have shot each enough to have a good feel for their differences. My red tapered bands give good speed for the least pull. I especially like them when using lighter weight ammo.

The black bands seem better suited to heavier ammo. They probably last the longest and do shoot a little harder. But! You'll need to build up your strength or you won't enjoy shooting them very much. I don't practice much with them. I do sometimes take them hunting.

You can't go wrong with the standard yellow tubes. I've actually shot them most. They are a good compromise, they shoot most any ammo well, they are not hard for an adult to pull, and they cost slightly less.
