Scoring whitetail hunting is not an exact science. Some may even think it's a crazy idea. Scoring antlers?

In other sports we most often score how they play, or the quality of their performance. It depends on how one looks at something. Trophy hunters in particular should be scored.

You could say that we are trying to
"level the playing field" by establishing some hunting guidelines.

Most of the hunters in our country are still good authentic hunters, but there is a trend to make the acquisition of trophies the goal of every hunter. "Hunters" with the money simply buy them; going where they are relatively easy to take.

Millions are being spent on advertising. Whitetail, and especially trophy whitetail, currently drive a big segment of the hunting business.

The pursuit of a trophy is selling: hunting trips, guided hunts, land, feed, seed, farm machinery...

Our goal at score-your-hunting is to promote authentic hunting. We encourage hunters to consider their hunting to be as important as the trophy they hunt.

We hope to discourage some of the poor quality hunting practices. We are all trophy hunters in that we want a big mature deer. Some of us just don't believe it should be bought, or raised like a cow.

Note the comparisons or hunting scores are realistic guidelines, but some of the skills are about equal, and could change under some circumstances. They are listed from the highest skill to the lowest with some short explanation.
