Kansas Turkey

Kansas Turkey

Kansas Turkey

Drove 4 hours on Friday morning from my home in Central Oklahoma to West Central KS to hunt turkeys with my longbow.

Arrived just before daylight at the gate where I hunt and met with my hunting partner. My hunting partner who lives in KS and I had set up a couple of pop up blinds two weeks prior in some woods near water to hunt turkeys for the fall.

We each went our way and got into our blinds. About 0800 I heard sounds from behind my blind and 18 turkeys came around my blind heading to water 15 yards in front of the blind.

I let them settle down and looked them over for a good tom. There were several in the group but one was giving me a good side view at 10-11 yards.

I drew, shot, and hit him right where the wings attach to the body. He flopped over and took off but was dragging a wing. He made it about 20 yards and fell under a cedar.

YES!
I'm hunting with a 60", 55# @28", Longriver Elk longbow, cedar arrows I stained, fletched and crested with Magnus 135grn 2 blade heads.

The Tom was 23lbs, 11" beard and 1 1/8" spurs. I use the primary feathers on all of my birds to fletch my arrows I build.
