Hunting technology continues to change. Often the best are small changes, updates, or improvements on existing technology:
A flashlight that is smaller, lighter, brighter, and batteries last longer. A knife that is tougher, fits the hand better, and stays sharp longer. A rifle bullet which preforms better under more varied circumstances...
Much of today's Gee-Whiz-Bang-Wow! Tech. is soon forgotten, stored in a closet, the garage, or sold on eBay. Those which stand "the test of time" are truly useful.
Pictured above with the squirrels is a scoped single-shot T/C Contender. Years ago when I made the picture a scoped single-shot handgun was somewhat new hunting technology. The Contender, and it's cousin, the Encore, are still around because they have some solid functional advantages.

I love tech! I love to learn about what's new. I use the internet to find the newest tools... I read magazines, and the pages which interest me are often about new products.
With my age and experience I'm not easily impressed. I spent a lot of time and money in my youth looking for things to make my life better.
I should have spent more time working on me. Joy comes from doing something well. Not much joy comes from something, or someone else doing it.
Now I want to simplify. I want only a few great tools which don't get in my way. I carefully study interesting new products, but I seldom replace anything.
Hunting doesn't actually require a lot of technology. New tools can improve our experience in nature, but too much technology can somewhat remove us from nature. Read

One of the best/worst examples is the deer feeder. A feeder doesn't look very high-tech., but it can be. It may have an LCD screen and a simple computer to control the feeding times and amounts. It can be recharged with a solar panel...
It doesn't look very sinister either, but we believe it is one of the greatest threats to the future of hunting. Feeders take the natural out of nature, the wild out of wildlife, and the hunt out of hunting.
