Scoring The Other Hunting Stuff

electronic game calls hunting stuff

The other hunting stuff.
Some of it is difficult to score,
especially without knowing how it was used.

Our general feeling is that less is more.
A hunter who can go out with only the basic tools
and bring in the venison; may be more skilled.

Not that this other hunting stuff is bad,
but generally the less tools, or the less sophisticated the tools,
the more authentic hunting skill is used.

Feeding is not hunting.

Use this to think about how you hunt.
You may get some new ideas. Some experienced hunters may think this silly, but remember not everyone starts with your experience.
This stuff can contribute to, or take away from your authentic hunting.

There is little difference in some hunting stuff.
The order 'here' is the 'best score'
at the top of a section.

Using a call requires some knowledge and skill, less for electronic, and almost none when someone does it for you.

What do you use?

No call or mouth only.

Mouth blown call.

Rattle call.

Friction call.

Electronic call.

Someone Else Calls.

What else do you use?

No Decoy.

Decoy Used.

What do you use?

No Attractants.

Attractants Used.

Few areas are natural today, still, the more natural the food sources hunted, the more authentic the hunting.

Where do you hunt?

Natural food sources.

Near Farm Crops.

Near A Food Plot.

Used a Lure or Bait.

Near A Feeder or Replenished Bait Location.

Good hunters scout, before, during, and always.

What do you do?

Thoroughly Scout.

Scout.

Don't Scout Much.

Good hunters always consider the wind.

What do you do?

Carefully use the wind.

I'm scent-free or use cover scent.

Don't worry about wind.

Experienced whitetail hunters do their own hunting.

What do you do?

No one helps.

No important help.

Some help.

Significant help.

Professional help.

We all want an instant kill, and for the animal not to suffer.

What's your record like?

The deer dropped.

The deer ran a short distance.

The deer took a while to find.

The deer was lost.

More about this?

It was a one shot kill.

Additional shots were required.

Additional hunting was required, and additional shots.

Hunting was first all about the meat, not sport.

After a harvest?

You completely processed the meat.

Field dress & have processed.

Pay for all processing.

Don't care about the meat.

Let's be honest, sometimes it's our skill, and sometimes it's not.

What has created your success?

I use my skills very well.

Mostly my skill and some luck.

About equal skill and luck.

Some skill, more luck.

I was really lucky.

Most of the other hunting stuff is simply
what we choose to use, or not use.
Feeding or repeated baiting,
depends somewhat on how it's done,
but it's not a part of authentic hunting.

I'm sure we've left something out,
if you have any thoughts about any of this contact me.
