Camouflage Clothing

by Buck
(Oklahoma)

Hunting Camo.

Hunting Camo.

Hunting Camo. This is what I usually wear in warm weather. I may wear this on cooler days, especially early or late in the day. Deer may see the human figure in a situation such as this.

In the first picture I'm wearing camouflage with a little camouflage makeup on my face. At bow-hunting range, my hand and ears are glaring, and my face is easy to detect.

Even in hot weather I wear mesh camo gloves, and a 3D mesh mask on the lower part of my face. I also use lots of dark camo makeup around my eyes, and on my ears.

When critters are close I keep my hat bill low and my head tipped down to keep them seeing my eyes or glasses.

Camouflage mask and gloves are very important. We move our hands and face more and they can "give us away". The face is especially sensitive to itchy fabrics. Some head garments can restrict your vision.

Gloves can help keep you warm, but also make you clumsy. In hot weather mesh gloves and mask or lots of camouflage make-up is an option. Keep trying different things until you find what works for you.

Don't wear white socks! When you sit your pants legs pull up and you may have bright white showing. Using a white handkerchief or anything is never a good idea either... Trigger happy hunters come to mind.

BUT! A couple of times I've hung a white handkerchief flapping in the wind, or even parked my truck, to try and divert deer movement slightly. I think it worked once, but I'm not sure, and it could blow the whole deal. None of these deer hunting tips come with a guarantee:-)
