About Us

About us, we lived three miles north of a small town in North Eastern Texas.

stuck truck Dad married "the girl next door". The doors were about 200 yards apart; we lived in the country.
I grew up living between my grandparent's.

country roads

My relatives are still scattered along that beautiful old country road.

hunting rifles From age eight I've hunted and fished. Grand-Dad taught me to fish. Dad taught me to hunt quail, squirrel, and a little about deer.

The whole family taught me to respect people, property, guns, and living things. I was always hunting or thinking about hunting, first with a BB gun, and later with a .22.

I didn't want to read in school, but I read the outdoor magazines.
I wanted to be like Jack O'Connor a very popular gun-writer for "Outdoor Life" magazine.

Air Force I graduated in 1965. The Vietnam War was going strong; I joined the Air Force. In the Air Force I became interested in photography.

honey moon trip Professional Photographer

It truly became about 'us' at my last duty in
Western Oklahoma, 1969.
I met Sharon.
(The picture above is from our honeymoon.)

We both attended SWOSU after my AF discharge.
Three years later I dropped out to be a professional photographer for the next 20 years. (I took most all
the website's pictures.)

Sharon got sick in the late 1980's so I took over teaching her 4th grade bible-school class. I learned that I liked teaching young kids!

Almost forty years old I went back to SWOSU and became a fourth grade school teacher. I've worked with women and kids for over 20 years.
(That makes me an expert with wildlife!)

The beginning of "score-your-hunting".

Thinking about us, our future, I started looking for something to do when I retire. (I'm still teaching.) I was thinking about us, Sharon and I, but I wanted something important to me.

Surprisingly, an idea started when a hunter told me about taking his trophy deer. He told about a hunting ranch where he was "wined and dined". Then he was driven out to a stand where he sat until 'his' big deer came to a feeder.

I didn't say much, but it resonated with me! Why would he, a skilled hunter, want to kill a deer that way? I realized how some guys are obsessed with getting a trophy deer; it troubled me.

Sun and lake The "Score-Your-Hunting" website.

At first my thoughts ran into each other: I didn't know anything about making a website! I'm not a writer I thought! I did know photography, hunting, guns... I was excited, but not very confident!

I learned that websites don't cost much, but most are invisible, lost among the millions of websites on the internet.

I spend a lot of time in front of my computer now. (Some old man has been showing up in my pictures for the last few years :-)

You found my website because it's a good, solid, honest, website. Think about what you've been reading - I simply write what I know about, what I care about, what I'm interested in. Could you do that?
